G01 - Tyrolean Music Station

G01 was an interesting station, in that it was set up to be purposefully misleading. What sounded like a run-of-the-mill East German spy station was actually operated by a French espionage service (SDECE) to send coded messages to field agents behind the Iron Curtain. Instead of transmitting said mesages using the familiar number format, it utilized scrambled sentences in German. The callsign features a variety of musical numbers, inlcuding German and Tyrolean folk music and a music box version of the Communist anthem "Internationale".

G01 transmitted every weekend at 1130 UTC and it possibly ceased operation in 1975 with SDECE's shutdown in the same year.
